Hi! My name is Heather Stanley and I am a mother! My birth journey really began with the 36-hour homebirth of my son. During that experience I learned so much about birth, support, comfort, patience, strength, time, digging deep, trust, and belief in this process that has brought so many babies into this world! I wouldn't have traded it for anything. But, there were some things that I would have done differently if I would have known at the time. I do believe that things happen for a reason, and I appreciate the experience I had because it has made me into the Therapist, Educator, Doula, and Mother I am today. I believe we are all made to have babies; but it is a journey, and the journey is different for each woman. Being a woman is physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Each part of us needs to feel acknowledged, open, and balanced in order to have the best pregnancy and labor possible. Over the past 20 years of working with birth, I am confused at how many births have some sort of intervention or end up in a cesarean birth. If the world's women have been birthing since the beginning of time without these tools, how have they become so important and utilized so often? I've committed my work to offering the most comprehensive support I can to my prenatal families as I believe the prenatal preparation is the most important part of becoming a mother and entering childbirth. Therefore, I provide support on all PEMS levels.
Physical: I am a certified & licensed Massage Therapist from The Alexander School of Natural Therapeutics in Washington State in 1999, as well as licensed in Colorado. My prenatal massage certification was in 2000 by Carole Osborne-Sheets both in pre- and post-natal, as well as infant massage. Complementing my prenatal massage, I have attended two Spinning Babies Certification workshops and a four-day bodywork certification, which certified me as a Spinning Babies Aware Bodywork Practitioner. This work is rare and special in that it focuses on balancing the pelvis to aid and encourage a better-feeling pregnancy and an easier birth. (Please see Spinning Babies Bodywork description in Massage tab.)
Emotional: I am a Lifecoach and provide positive, supportive sessions in which I assist you in prioritizing feelings/emotions/worries and give you tools to free yourself from anything not serving you today. I include work such as EFT, Emotion Code, NET, Young Living oils emotional pattern clearing, affirmations, and more.
Mental: My childbirth class mentor certification was taught by Pam England, founder and author of Birthing from Within. I educate you and remind you that you are wise and strong. I encourage you to believe in yourself and give you choices for your pregnancy and birth to encourage your confidence.
Spiritual: I support you and care for you, and I make every effort to connect you to your powerful core that knows how to birth and be a great mother...just as you are.
My Birth Doula certification is from Bates College in Washington State and is DONA approved, and my Postpartum Doula certification is CAPPA approved. I have been working with mothers for 18+ years and have been in the natural health and wellness field for over 20 years.
The main focus of my work is to bring relaxation, strength, confidence, and support to the whole family through the amazing experiences of life and birth. Pregnancy is such an important time for women, and I believe that preparation is key to a successful birth and journey into parenthood. Through my life and birth experiences, I am honored to bring to you my best in support, care, and knowledge. Blessings to you and your family in your journey.
